In the past month, our crews have worked diligently to complete the following while we awaited some delayed materials. This allowed the project to continue to progress even with the minor delays.
Construction will be ramping back up after Labor Day weekend as Summers & Taylor begins work on the Silva Cells.
Here’s the update (work zone map attached) from our Stakeholder Information Session and changes as of this week:
Our crews completed their work on the installation of the stormwater drain system, communication/electrical conduit, and lighting foundations on Depot Street between Cutler Street and Irish Street. This work zone is a lane closure mostly on the south side and is now open to local traffic only. Please proceed with caution through this partial closure. The Federal Courthouse and the Post Office will remain accessible from the Cutler Street side of the block.
Depot Street between Irish Street and Main Street will remain closed as crews begin the installation of Silva Cells and start laying concrete curb and gutter. The new communication/electrical conduit and lighting foundations have been completely installed since our last update. Grading is also complete in preparation for concrete crews to begin their work. Silva Cell installation will also begin in this work zone next week after S/T received the root blocking materials that were delayed. We also had an issue getting the proper soil that will allow the landscaping to thrive for years to come. That issue has now also been resolved and will not hold things up any further. No disruption of utility services is expected during these installations.
Depot Street between Main Street and College Street is now open to local traffic only. The intersection of College Street and Depot Street is open. Academy Street is also open and accessible. Please use caution while accessing this area.
Here's a couple pictures of the current closures on Depot Street: First is standing at Irish Street looking towards Main Street at the complete closure.
Second, this is a look at Depot Street standing at Irish Street looking towards Cutler Street.
