Please be advised that beginning on Monday, October 2nd, Depot Street Project crews will be closing Main Street from Summer Street to Church Street and Depot Street from Irish Street to College Street. This closure will redirect all vehicular traffic around these blocks while the intersection is under construction. Pedestrian access to businesses is available via adjacent street parking and lots. Please utilize this traffic control map for visuals on detours and the closure at large:
This is the last large-scale closure for the Depot Street Project and will allow the construction crews to complete the following:
Removing the current stone and asphalt to subgrade.
Re-grading the roadway and intersection.
Installing new traffic signal conduit and wiring.
Installing conduit, wiring, and pole foundations for four new streetlights.
Constructing curbs, ADA ramps and sidewalks at all four corners of the intersection.
Laying asphalt pavement and stamped decorative crosswalks at the intersection.
All of this work is scheduled to take place during this 6-week closure. As shown in the map, the current closure at the intersection of College Street and Depot Street will reopen before this new closure goes into effect, allowing access to College Street as a part of the detour. This detour is the suggested route to avoid the closure but all roads outside of the intersection closure (area denoted in Red and Yellow above) will remain two-way and accessible throughout this closure.
Along with normal detour signage leading to this closure, there will be two message boards placed to encourage truck traffic to take alternate routes. One will be located at Highway 70 and US 321 and the other will be at N Main Street and Baileyton Road. TDOT and Greeneville Public works have both signed off on this traffic control plan.
Motorists are urged to use caution in this area. If you have any questions, please call 727.743.4359
